Within the grounds of a heritage house, this pool remodelling project required the construction and masonry teams to work delicately and precisely around valuable established gardens. A variety of stonemasonry techniques and styles were used to stitch the new into the old seamlessly.

The original pool was truncated and straightened to expand the poolside area with a new, suspended concrete terrace. The enlarged poolside is paved in light banded sandstone that extends vertically up the feature wall, behind a bronze sculpture. A new set of steps down to the tennis court was added, anchored off a reinforced concrete wall called in sandstone. The structure is ‘stitched’ into the grounds using sandstone treads and a random book leaf pattern on the wall, to match existing garden walls.

Completing the upgrade are new filtration and sanitising systems for the pool, and integrated spotlighting for night time ambience. The result is timeless and perfectly tailored to the site.
